Our 100 Year History

  • 1905 – The Beginning: It all started with Mr. Walter E. Lester, who set up his practice from a modest office on Bridge Street in Nuneaton. His vision was the foundation of something enduring.
  • 1925 – A Growing Team: Walter was joined by Mr. Percy Dixon and Mr. Frank Jeffcoate, and the firm became Lester Dixon & Jeffcoate. Together, they moved into larger offices on Newdegate Street, Nuneaton, marking the start of our expansion.
  • 1950s – Expanding Reach: With the rise of the Exhall industrial estate, the firm saw increasing demand from businesses. In response, we opened a second office in Bedworth’s Church Walk, extending our services to Coventry and surrounding areas.
  • 1971 – Purpose-built Head Office: Outgrowing our Newdegate Street office, we moved into our purpose-built office in Dugdale Street, Nuneaton, where we remain today.
  • 1980s-2000s – Evolving Through Decades: The firm adapted to changing times with rebrands and expanded services. The Jeffcoate family continued their legacy in the business, setting the stage for modern growth. We proudly became the first in North Warwickshire to hold a Public Funding Franchise, expanding our reach to areas like Family, Employment, and Housing Law.
  • 2000s – Expansion: In the early 2000s, we grew through key acquisitions of two well-known local firms – Hale Randle & Stevenson and T.P. Keith Oakey & Co. These acquisitions saw the firm operate from and serve the communities of Nuneaton, Bedworth, Atherstone and Hinckley.
  • 2006 – A New Chapter: We officially adopted the name LDJ Solicitors, a name synonymous with trust and expertise in the local community.
  • 2011 – Embracing Change: As technology advanced, we made the strategic decision to close our Atherstone and Bedworth offices, allowing us to focus on providing top-notch services across our remaining locations.
  • 2016 – Partnership Transition: We transitioned to a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP), ensuring the firm’s continued growth and success under the leadership of our equity members.
  • 2025 – A New Era: We celebrated a 100 years of service by modernising our head office, holding special events and community-focused initiatives, including our Acts of Kindness campaign, giving back to the people who have supported us for generations.
Today, LDJ proudly serve a wide range of clients across various legal sectors, continuing to deliver expert advice and exceptional service with the same commitment and care that our founders instilled in the firm back in 1925.
